44 days

Been doing a lot of writing. I came up with something new yesterday that I'm pretty excited about. I'm working pretty hard to get as much new material written as I can so that when it comes time to start work on the next record, I'll be ready.

I also haven't shaved in 44 days.

But anyway, I got two pieces finished for the April 17th concert, and they'll both definitely be on the next one. Since then, I've got three more pieces in the works, all of which will almost definitely be on the album as well. Then there are a number of other backlogged pieces and ideas.

At this very moment, I'm at Webster trying to transfer a download of a documentary into iMovie so that I can make a DVD that I can watch on my TV. The documentary is "Hearts of Darkness", a great film about the making of "Apocalypse Now". I hadn't even seen "Apocalypse Now" when I decided to watch "Hearts of Darkness" here at the Webster library because I'd read that it was regarded as one of THE great documentaries. It's not in print, or available on DVD, which is very suprising. The rumor is that there's a thing or two that Francis Ford Coppola [director of "Apocalypse"] wants the documentary makers to take out.

Sofia Coppola [writer/director of "Lost in Translation"] is in the movie! She was a little girl when "Apocalypse Now" was in production.

But anyway, "Darkness" has more than one level of footage, and that always makes for a potentially great documentary. It shows the incredible struggle it was to make "Apocalypse Now", which I finally watched right after I watched the documentary. Definitely met my expectations seeing as how its touted as a great film.

Think I'm going to shave tonight.
